On June 13th, Rich Davis, CCS Class of 1954,
of Aurora, Colorado, and Glenn Davis, CCS Class of 1960, &
his wife, Coreen of Murphy, NC visited my place for a few days. A
friend of the Davis’s from Colorado was racing his Hemi Nitro
dragster at Beech Bend Park Nostalgia Drag Races & Car Show in
Bowling Green , KY. We all went to the races for the next two days
using my place as home base. We had a fantastic time at the races
although our eardrums suffered mightily from engine noise. Evenings
were spent eating & reminiscing about growing up on the West End of
Cambridge (aka Bucktown) in the 1950’s. It’s amazing the events &
people we remembered. Everyone left on Saturday with fond memories
of the visit. I hadn’t seen Rich Davis for nearly 40 years.
Cambridge ties run deep however & the memories are lasting. P.S. the
dragster didn’t have as much fun as we did!! No trophies...

Tom Raymond, '64
For all you Yankees fans from the '50s, and who may have ventured out to
SFO, to Fisherman's Wharf, back in the day. Recall that by the
summer of 1967, Simon and Garfunkel were strumming and lamenting
(from one of the very great flicks of all time):
Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you
Wu wu wu
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Jolting Joe has left and gone away
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Yet, until not long ago, Joe would only reply, "Hey, I'm still
here!" (but never could accept Marilyn's encounter with that
sidewalk radiator grate!)
