Marilyn Kenyon Pemrick

 
 Marilyn K. Pemrick passed away peacefully at her home on Monday afternoon, Nov. 9, 2009, with her loving family at her side after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.

Marilyn was born in Cambridge, N.Y., on Jan. 7, 1937, the daughter of the late Mark and Alice (Green) Kenyon.

She graduated salutatorian from Cambridge Central School and attended Oneonta State Teachers College.

On Oct. 1, 1955, Marilyn married Francis J. Pemrick Jr. and raised three wonderful children.

Marilyn, an accomplished pianist and organist, was the principal performer for both the Shushan Presbyterian and Methodist churches for years. She also was a Legion of Mary and Court Leonard CDA member and lector at St. Patrick's Church in Cambridge.

After moving to Queensbury in 1987, she sang in the Our Lady of the Anunciation church choir and joined the Glens Falls Zonta club.

A proud member of the Mayflower Society and the Edward Fuller Society, Marilyn, with her sisters Jane, Roxy and Kay enjoyed attending the annual Fuller reunions in various places throughout the United States. Retiring from Glens Falls National Bank in 1993, after 25 years of service, Marilyn stayed busy working at Adirondack Mortgage, caring for the beautiful gardens at Kingswood Golf Course and volunteering for the Glens Falls Hospital Guild. Marilyn and Frank spent 15 winters in Winterhaven, Fla., where Marilyn participated in the kitchen band of Oakwood Estates, the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed time with friends on the golf course.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Francis Pemrick Jr. and their children: Denise Dickinson and her husband, John, of Kingsbury, Mark Pemrick and his wife, Renee, of Chesapeake, Va., and Scott Pemrick of Amherst, Mass.; brothers and sisters: S. Wayne Kenyon of Argyle, Jane Keys and her husband, Tom, of Salem, Roxy Pemrick and her husband, John, of Greenwich, Kay Walsh and her husband, Edward, of Kansas City, Kansas, Mark Kenyon Jr. and his wife, Cate, of Cambridge, Ann Quinn and her husband, Leo, of Ballston Spa, Reta Pemrick of Cambridge, Dan Pemrick and his wife, Patsy, of Middle Grove and Mary MacLaren and her husband, Mike, of Tomah, Wis.; grandchildren: Rachel Pemrick of Virginia Beach, Va., Jessica Speer and her husband, Stephen, of Elizabeth City, N.C., Crystal Grimaldi and her husband, Richard, of Kingsbury, Amber Pemrick of Glens Falls, Joseph Wachner of Virginia Beach, Va., Kristin Pemrick of Chesapeake, Va.; great-grandchildren, Paige and Austin Speer of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 W. Main St., Cambridge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, with Father James Walsh officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Marilyn's pallbearers will be John Dickinson, Leo Quinn Jr., Tom Quinn, Daniel Pemrick, Todd Keys, Joshua Pemrick and Andrew Pemrick.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to American Breast Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or High Peaks Hospice at 667 Bay Road, Queensbury, NY.
