Kenneth Stinner

Kenneth W. Stinner, 66, of Castleton, N.Y., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday, April 4, 2010 after a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer.

 He was the son of Betty-Jean Stinner of Kingston, N.Y. and the late Bernard Stinner. He is also survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Betsy C. Stinner of Castleton, N.Y.; his loving children, Matthew T. Stinner (Jennifer) of Sudbury, Mass., Rebecca W. Quevedo (James) of Tappan, N.Y., Jeffrey C. Stinner (in spirit); and his four beautiful grandchildren, Jeffrey, Abigail and Julia Stinner, and Benjamin Quevedo. His surviving siblings are Nancy (Art), Dorothy, Robert (Sue), Phyllis (Rod), John (Carol), Linda (Steve), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His brother, Richard (Jean) passed away last year.

 He graduated from Cambridge High School (N.Y.), Tarkio College and attended graduate school at SUNY Albany. Prior to his retirement, he was a pharmaceutical sales representative for Ayerst Laboratories and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Following his retirement, he worked at Maple Hill High School as a school monitor. He was committed to his community and, at the time of his passing, he was serving as a board member and as deputy town supervisor for the Town of Schodack, and as a volunteer firefighter for the South Schodack Fire Department. He formerly served as the president of the South Schodack Fire Company, as assistant chief for the South Schodack Fire Department, as a school board member for the Schodack Central Schools, as a Scoutmaster for Troop 53 in Castleton, N.Y. and as a little league coach for Castleton Little League.

 He lived his life to the fullest with integrity, good spirit, a great sense of humor and a commitment to helping others. His life revolved around his loving family and he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing with his grandchildren, building models, mentoring young people, and his many hours spent with his family and friends on Sunrise Lake in N.H.

Calling hours will be at the Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton on Thursday 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. His funeral will be Friday, April 9, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Reformed Church, 1150 Maple Hill Rd., Castleton. Burial will follow in Horizonview Cemetery, Castleton.
