Greenwich -- Margaret Ann (Rouse) Saunders, 87, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility in Argyle.

Born July 18, 1918, in Battenville, town of Greenwich, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Albert Maxwell and Catherine Christina (Countryman) Rouse.

She grew up in the town of Jackson, and was a 1936 graduate of Cambridge High School and the Troy Beauty School in 1937.

Prior to her marriage, she worked at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge. In her middle years, Margaret worked at the Dress Factory in Greenwich and Reis' in Cambridge and was also a homemaker.

She was an accomplished harmonica player who enjoyed entertaining with old songs.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Merrill "Mike" Saunders, whom she married on Jan. 26, 1942; her daughters, Gail (Robert) Dewey of Greenwich, Janice (Laurence) McDonald of Waukesha, Wis., and Kathleen (Lawrence) Myers of Greenwich; grandsons, Robin Dewey, Todd (Christina) Dewey, Daniel (Wendy) McDonald, Gregory (Rebekah) McDonald, Brenden Myers, and Collin Myers. She is further survived by great-grandsons Connor Myers and James E. Dewey and great-granddaughters Penelope and Emma McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, George A. Rouse, K. Janet Noteman, and J. Eldridge Rouse.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich.

Spring burial will be in the Greenwich Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the fine care from all the staff at PVI.
