CAMBRIDGE -- Kyle Lee McLenithan, 43, died at his home on Thursday, June 29, 2006.

Born Dec. 28, 1962, in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Irving A. "Baldy" McLenithan and Ann Williams McLenithan Mantz of North Granville.

Kyle was a graduate of Cambridge Central School, Class of 1981, and attended Mohawk Community College and ACC.

At the present time, he was employed by Morcon Industries in Cambridge, but he was a contractor and finish carpenter for most of his working career. He worked for Restorations Plus in Cambridge for more than 20 years. He took over his father's cattle trucking business for Cambridge Valley Livestock Market after his father's untimely death. He spent some time as a caretaker and bartender at the Hotel Cambridge.

He had been a member and past commander of the Sons of the American Legion, Capt. Maxson Post No. 481, a member of Ducks Unlimited and a member of the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church.

Kyle loved children and children loved Kyle. He was "Uncle Cracker," the favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews. He coached Little League Baseball and Pee Wee Football.

For many years, he was Santa Claus, a role that he adored.

Kyle was blessed to have a terrific sense of humor and performed many stand-up routines at hunting camp.

He was an avid sportsman, especially enjoying hunting and the camaraderie of hunting camp, where he was the part-time camp cook. He cooked up many special recipes that were privy only to him.

Along with his mother and stepfather, William Mantz, Kyle is survived by his companion of 13 years, Simmons Henderson and her son, that he dearly loved, Spencer Conlin; three siblings and their spouses, Kim and Drew Haskell of Cambridge, Glenn "Buzzy" and Valeda McLenithan of Shushan and Todd and Suanne McLenithan of Cambridge; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dogs, Chip and Guinness.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to either Pee Wee Football, c/o Todd McLenithan, 21 Academy St., Cambridge, NY 12816 or CVAA Little League, c/o Lori Lybert,  724 State Route 313, Cambridge, NY 12816.

Kyle was a wonderful, giving man who will be greatly missed by his family and community.
