SHUSHAN -- Joan
Marie Foster went to
be with the Lord on
Monday, Dec. 26,
2005, after her
battle with cancer.
She is the daughter
of the late
Frederick Tully and
Leta Bentley Tully.
Joan is survived
by her husband of 36
years, Carleton A.
Foster; her
daughter, Lydia Owen
with her husband,
Chris, and her two
granddaughters,
Vaughn and Aquilla;
her daughter,
Hillary Allebach
with her husband,
Jarrett; and her two
siblings Janet
Tully-Kuzman and
John Tully.
She graduated from
Brockport with her
bachelor's degree
and later achieved
her master's degree
at North Adams.
Joan taught at
Hoosic Valley
Elementary for more
than 30 years, and
loved her job, her
students, faculty,
and staff. In
addition to
teaching, Joan
devoted herself to
loving and serving
Jesus Christ. From
community bible
studies to the
Spiritual Life
Center, volunteering
with Youth for
Christ, assisting
with Vacation Bible
School, and serving
as a Sunday school
superintendent,
deacon, and elder in
her church, Joan was
a committed and
diligent woman of
God. Joan loved to
pray, read, enjoy
music, teach youth
and children, often
volunteering in a
local elementary
school and
preschool.
She also loved
playing tennis,
skiing, spending
time outdoors,
traveling,
gardening, and
sharing her life and
love with many
people. In all
things, Joan was a
source of joy and
light and a faithful
servant of God. In
her life and death
she pointed people
towards the wisdom,
power and love of
her Savior Jesus -
to Him be the Glory.
In lieu of flowers,
Joan and her family
ask that donations
be given to:
