of
Cambridge,
died
Saturday,
Oct. 28,
2006, at her
residence,
The
Cambridge
Guest Home.
Born and
educated in
Cambridge,
she was
daughter of
the late
Frank
Thompson and
Emma
Elizabeth
Rice Holden.
Miss Holden
was a
graduate of
the
University
of Vermont,
Burlington
and received
her master's
degree from
Albany State
University.
She taught
Latin and
Spanish for
eight years,
and she went
on to be
senior file
clerk for
Asgrow
(Upjohn
Company),
Cambridge,
for 20
years,
retiring in
1976. For 15
years, she
was
secretary
for the
Washington
County Fair.
A lifelong
resident of
the
community,
Miss Holden
was a member
of the
Cambridge
United
Presbyterian
Church since
1923, where
she was
organist and
choir
director for
56 years.
She was also
a member of
the
Arlington
Chorale
since 1956;
Cambridge
Community
Choral
Society
since
inception; a
life member
of the
Cambridge
Historical
Society;
Friends of
the
Cambridge
Public
Library and
the Women's
Society of
the United
Presbyterian
Church. Miss
Holden was a
volunteer at
the former
Mary
McClellan
Hospital
since 1977.
She enjoyed
playing the
piano and
taught many
local
students.
Survivors
include her
cousins,
Arthur E.
Center Jr.,
of
Cambridge;
Lewis F.
Center of
New York
City; Martha
Jane Center
LaDue of
Gansevoort;
and Barbara
Mary Maxson
Merrill and
their
families.
She was
predeceased
by her
brother,
LeRoy Rice
Holden.
She will be
truly missed
by her
extended
family at
the
Cambridge
Guest Home.
