Carl Edward Hamilton, 59, of Whiteside Road, South Cambridge, NY died unexpectedly in his sleep of natural causes on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006. He was the beloved husband of Jean LaFountain.

A lifelong resident of South Cambridge, Carl was born June 18, 1947, son of the late Malcolm and Helen Spink Hamilton.

He graduated from Cambridge Central School, Class of 1965. As a youth, he was a member of the 4 H Club.

Carl worked the family farm for 43 years. 11 years ago he went to work at Morcon Industries in Cambridge. He was a supervisor on the second shift.

Carl met the love of his life in 1973, Jean LaFountain. They were married on March 21, 1998. Jean describes her husband as a very special man, very caring and gentle, willing to do anything for anyone.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, survivors included a son, Nicholas Edward Hamilton of Cambridge; a sister, Joy Bonczek-Hollinger of Champagne, Ill.; two brothers, John and David Hamilton of South Cambridge; four grandchildren, Trenton Edward, Nicholas Edward Jr., Justin Edward and Nevaeh Loren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to call Friday, Dec. 22, at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service, conducted by Pastor Cal Witham, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m. at Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 East Main St.

Burial will follow at Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge. A reception will then be held at the South Cambridge Grange Hall.
