David Hakala
William David Hakala, 87, of state Route 22, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006,
at Centers
for Living
and
Rehabilitation
in
Bennington,
Vt. He
was the
beloved
husband of
Doris
Frizell
Hakala.
Born April
26, 1919, in
Troy, he was
the son of
David and
Alexandria
Lindgren
Hakala.
He was
raised in
Shushan and
received his
education in
Cambridge,
graduating
from the
Cambridge
Union
School.
During World
War II he
served in
the Army Air
Corp. and
was awarded
a Bronze
Service
Star. He
earned the
rank of
sergeant.
He and Doris
were married
on Oct. 5,
1956.
Bill was a
talented
welder and
fabricator.
His shop was
located next
to his home
on state
Route 22. He
enjoyed
woodworking,
gardening
and fishing.
He and Doris
are members
of the
Cornerstone
Fellowship
in North
Hoosick.
Along with
his wife of
50 years, he
is survived
by two sons
and their
wives,
Steven and
Donna Hakala
of
Mechanicville,
and David
and Tina
Hakala of
West
Hoosick; a
brother and
sister-in-law,
Albert and
Lillian
Hakala of
Greenwich;
and three
grandchildren.
