Myron A. Collamer
 

 Myron A. Collamer, 79, went peacefully into the arms of his Lord with his wife by his side at home on Sunday, November 7, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (Lyons) Collamer.

A lifelong resident of Cambridge, Myron was born on Thursday, March 19, 1931, the son of Ivan and Ruth Cornell (Gay) Collamer.  He was a graduate of Cambridge Central School, class of 1949.  He and Beverly were married on April 8, 1961.

He and his brother Warren were partners in the family business, Collamer Brothers woodworking for many years.  After Myron left the business, he worked as parts manager for Doan's Sales & Service in Salem and then Allen Farm Equipment in Schaghticoke until his retirement.  Myron also ran his own business, Ash Grove Seed Company in the late 1970's.

Myron was a devoted life long member of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge, where he was a Trustee and treasurer.  Recently he was elected an Honorary Trustee.

He was a member of the Cambridge Valley Lodge #481, Free & Accepted Masons; the Green Mountain Antique Car Club and the Fairlane Club of America.  He enjoyed singing with the Cambridge Community Choral Society for many years.

Myron was very passionate about antique cars and trucks. He enjoyed working on and touring with his 1963 Mercury Meteor.  He was also fascinated with trains and was an avid NASCAR fan.  Myron and his family enjoyed camping for many years. He and Beverly took many wonderful trips.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, John and Warren and his sister, Priscilla Scriber.

Along with his wife of 49 years, he is survived by three children, a son Brian Collamer and his partner Mattie MacGregor of Vergennes, VT, daughters Darlene Eriksen of Cambridge ,and Melanie Paskevich and her husband William of Chittenden, VT;   three  grandchildren Deanne Eriksen, Ryder and Samuel Paskevich; a great granddaughter Abigail Spicer; sister-in-law Charlotte Collamer; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 4 to 7 PM at the First Baptist Church, 29 West Main Street.  While the family is receiving friends and family there will be an ongoing reception in the community room. At 6 PM there will be a Masonic service.

A celebration of Myron's life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 12, at the First Baptist Church.

Myron’s ashes will be buried at Woodlands Cemetery at the time of his wife’s passing.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church, c/o 230 Ash Grove Road, Cambridge, NY 12816.

Myron was a kind, loving, caring, and compassionate man.  He was known as "Mr Fix It" to those close to him. Many in the neighborhood will surely miss seeing him on his routine walks. His smiling face and his good natured personality will be missed by his family, church and the community.
