Clark, 83,
died
peacefully
Monday
evening,
March 1,
2010, at
home with
her family
at her side.
Joyce was
born, and
lived most
of her life,
in Cambridge
N.Y. She was
the daughter
of William
J. and Pearl
Marie
(Austin)
Robertson.
She was
proud to be
a 1945
graduate of
Cambridge
High School.
After high
school, she
went on to
work at New
York
Telephone in
Albany
before
marrying
Peter Henry
Clark in
1951, and
settling
down to make
her house on
Route 313, a
home and a
well-known
expression
of her
artistic
talents.
Joyce's
talents were
also evident
at her
husband's
service
station on
South Park
Street in
Cambridge
where she
made Pete's
Friendly
Service an
attractive
and
welcoming
place to do
business.
Joyce was a
strong
supporter of
the
Cambridge
community
and was
active in
many social
and
community
organizations
throughout
her life.
She was a
50-year
member and
Past Matron
of the
Cambridge
Valley
Chapter No.
147 of the
Order of the
Eastern
Star, a
50-year
member of
the Embury
Methodist
Church and
the Ondawa-Cambridge
Chapter of
the NSDAR,
and a
long-standing
volunteer
and past
president of
the Mary
McClellan
Hospital
Auxiliary.
She was also
a life
member of
the
Cambridge
Historical
Society and
Shushan
Covered
Bridge
Museum.
Her
involvement
in life and
lives in and
around and
beyond
Cambridge
generated
many friends
of all ages
who were
often
recipients
of her
endless
supply of
birthday and
anniversary
cards.
She was
predeceased
by her
parents and
her husband,
Peter.
She is
survived by
her brother,
Jerome
Robertson of
Bennington,
Vt.; her
three
daughters:
Nancy
Clark-Krauss
of
Cambridge,
Susan Clark
of West
Barnet, Vt,
and Sally
Torok of
Keeseville,
N.Y.; three
grandchildren;
and her
devoted
companion,
Robert Brown
of Shushan.
The
community is
invited to
call on the
family at
noon,
Friday,
March 5,
2010, at
Ackley &
Ross Funeral
Home, 73 W.
Main St.,
Cambridge.
All are
invited to
join the
family at a
remembrance
service at 1
p.m. at the
funeral home
and
afterwards
at a
gathering at
the
Cambridge
Hotel.
