Rita Bell,
89, formerly
of
Cambridge,
died
peacefully
on
Wednesday,
Dec. 10, at
the Hoosick
Falls Health
Center which
had been her
home since
Feb., 2004.
She was the
widow of
George G.
Bell, Sr.
who died in
1987.
Born in
Cambridge on
Saturday,
Dec. 28,
1928,
daughter of
Anthony and
Clara
Messina
Baratto.
Anna
graduated
from
Cambridge
Union
School,
class of
1937. She
and George
were married
on August
19, 1951.
An
active
member of
the
Cambridge
community,
Anna was a
communicant
of St.
Patrick's
Church, a
former
member of
the
Cambridge
Rescue
Squad, which
her husband
helped to
start, and
the
Cambridge
Senior
Citizens.
She loved to
cook and
used this
talent at
Mary
McClellan
Hospital,
Cambridge
Central
School and
Meiklenox
Presbyterian
Home, now
the
Cambridge
Guest Home.
She enjoyed
gardening
and sports.
Anna was
passionate
about Bingo
and was
still
playing two
weeks ago.
She spent
several
years at the
Cambridge
Guest Home
before
moving to
Hoosick
Falls Health
Center.
She is
predeceased
by three
siblings,
Lena Powell,
Mary
Williams and
Joseph
Baratto.
She leaves
two
children,
George G.
Bell, Jr.
and wife,
Karen, of
Cambridge,
Ellen Marie
Larson and
husband,
Craig, of
Niles,
Mich.; a
brother,
Albert
Baratto of
Cambridge;
three
grandchildren,
Eric Larsen
and Daniel
and Benjamin
Wardwelo;
four
great-grandchildren
and several
nieces,
nephews,
great nieces
and great
nephews.
The family
