December 7, 2016

Dear CCS Alumni and Friends, THANK YOU!!!! Thanks to all 269 of you who sent in congratulatory messages to the State Champs, Coach Doug Luke and the coaching staff.

Although I feel a little self-conscious about all the attention we are receiving, these e-mails are something I will always cherish.  It is difficult for me to express how much this means to me, my coaches and the team.    I spent all of last night reading the comments with tears occasionally being wiped away.  I’d like to thank you and everyone that took the time to make us feel a little special.   Reading these e-mails have made winning a State Championship even more unreal.

I don’t know exactly who has received a copy of these e-mails but at our football banquet this Sunday I will be distributing a copy to each team member of the football team.   We have always tried to explain what an impact they have on our families, our school, our community and everyone that ever attended Cambridge.    These e-mails are a perfect example.

 Thank you so much

Doug Luke

The letter was sent to Coaches Doug Luke, Adam Burr, Chad Burr, Derek Srygley, Jason Waite, Jason Hamilton, Anthony Bochette, Dan Severson and Don Record>

A copy of the letter is on our website www.ccsindians.com

CAMBRIDGE CELEBRATES ITS CHAMPIONS

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11 AT 2:00 P.M.

Cambridge, NY- 13 games, 1,406 Receiving Yards, 4,205 Rushing Yards, 684 Total Points, 34 players and 7 coaches = The New York State High School Class D Football Champions, the Cambridge Central School Indians and a cause for celebration.

On Sunday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. the community will gather in support of the Cambridge Indians Football Team with a parade and ceremony honoring the team and coaches.   The parade will begin at the McLenithan Auction Barn on Route 22, traveling into the Village of Cambridge proceeding down Main Street, Academy, South Union and back up Main.  Lineup will begin at 1 pm.  Groups such as 4-H groups, Girl/Boy Scouts, Other Sport Teams, Churches, Current and Alumni Classes, etc. are welcome to participate in the parade with decorated floats honoring this team's accomplishments. Personal vehicles (horn blowers) following the parade are discouraged. Please line the streets in support! Interested participants should contact Melissa Spiezio (Melissa.a.spiezio@gmail.com) parade coordinator.

The parade will conclude at the Rice Mansion Inn with a ceremony honoring the players and coaches.  Attendees are encouraged to gather at the Rice Mansion Inn where local performer Jeff Williams will welcome the team, CCS Football announcer and alumni, Todd McLenithan will announce the team and emcee the ceremony and New York State Senator Betty Little will honor the team and offer congratulatory remarks.

The Cambridge Community has rolled out for their 2016 Indians Football team says Caroline Goss, Cambridge Central School Associate Principal.  The Tribesman Booster Club has been an integral part of ensuring students, parents, faculty and community members were informed of all the post-season contests and events.  They were certainly used as a conduit to coordinate all the stakeholders and ensure that anybody, athlete or not, could let their CCS Pride shine bright.  It has been tremendous to see the outpouring of support for our athletes from the CCS Alumni, driving cross-country to see them play or simply giving their well wishes online, and the local businesses offering a wide array of merchandise to our community to celebrate this well-deserved accolade. Faculty and parents have worked to give everyone on the team the recognition they deserve. You can feel the CCS Pride as you drive by the school and throughout the village with the banners and signs in front of businesses and the school, orange house lights and who can forget those parades that inspire everyone in our community and surrounding townships. Thanks to the Cambridge Fire Department, Cambridge Rescue Squad, Cambridge Police Department and the Village who have escorted our team home after winning each step to the Championship.  Our friends in Schuylerville, Greenwich and Salem also came out to greet the team bus as it rolled through from Syracuse.  For me, as a resident, an alumna and an administrator, it is truly an awesome sense of community and family to see everyone pull together and celebrate the achievements of our hometown team.  The parade and ceremony are the perfect ending to a perfect season.
