When I was a kid in the 1950s, all the dairy
tanker trucks stopped at the Cambridge Diner early each morning. As they
got back on the road, they were just shifting gears (and making a huge
noise) as they passed my house. it was hard to sleep in so I was always
up in time for school. Well, this morning I heard a different sound on
East Main Street. The intermittent "swoooosh, swooosh" woke me but I
couldn't place the sound at first. Then I stepped outside and saw this
hot air balloon about 10 feet from my bedroom window (see photo). The
sun was peeking through the clouds and I bet these folks were getting a
great view of Autumn in Cambridge.
For those alums who aren't fortunate enough to have
these great Cambridge views outside your bedroom window, be sure to stop
by the website of Tom McMorris '70 (http://www.yourehometown.com/news/pictureofweek/pictureofweek.htm).
Tom, the brother of CCS Alumni co-founder, Linda McMorris Record '59,
lives in Salem so check out the rest of his website to see what our
northern neighbors are up to. He has a great video about the railroad
roundhouse that used to be in Salem. Interesting stuff. Not as
interesting as Cambridge, but not bad for Salem ;-)
