In junior high (I think) one year we had
a new teacher, a tall tan man from Texas, Mr. Crank. You know one wall of
the classrooms are all windows. He turned to the windows the first snow
fall of that year and kept saying, "Well, would you look at that!" He was
seeing snow fall for the first time and was so excited, that's all we did
for the whole class period - watch the snow fall. It was great! We came to
appreciate the beauty of the winter here.
Other memories:
Mrs. Sherman sitting on top the desk;
Mr. O'Connor ranting on about baseball's new DH rule;
Our play about Dobie Gillis played by Pete McEvoy who we tragically lost the
next summer;
Field hockey with Coach Hopkins;
Study hall in the cafeteria;
Bomb fires and pep rallies in the fall;
Jr. Prom with Japanese garden theme (I think we wrecked some of the wooden
auditorium floor with our water garden!) |
