the stars. We don’t have much planned yet other than to provide a venue
and a cash bar. We’re working with the younger alumni (you know, under 60

Legion’s new PA system.

history of the hospital back to the laying of the cornerstone by Mary
McClellan on 4-Jul-1917.

Nikki will describe the current condition
of the buildings and grounds and outline their plans for the future.

There will be time after the formal
presentations for people to mingle and share their stories of the Mary
McClellan. Nikki will also be available to answer inquiries.

CCS Alumni
Association — How it all Started
In the beginning … the web
In 2004 Ann Peters Wade ‘63 contacted
Pauline Rogers Nash among others as she tried to establish email contact
with her classmates. Pauline, a web designer in Mississippi, took the idea
a step further and made a web site for her class. As word got around,
contacts were made with several classmates. The Bennington Banner ran an
article about their website in December 2004.
And then the Reunion
The class of 1959 expanded their 1999 and
2004 reunions to include the two classes before and after theirs. This
five year group of alumni was the building block that has evolved into our
CCS All-School Reunion Weekend.
The first reunion was held July 23, 2005
at the American Legion. Initial committee members were Pearl Welling
Brownell ‘53, Mike Baratto ‘62, Bev Thomas Currier ‘58, Linda Lufkin
Taylor ‘62, Betty Jeskie White ‘55, Pauline Rogers Nash ‘63, Dick Record
‘59, Linda McMorris Record ‘59.
And then they joined
Linda Taylor, Linda Record and Dick Record
contacted Pauline in 2005 about working together. Pauline expanded her
website and www.CCSIndians.com was born. The announcement came in an April
2005 article in the Eagle.
And then they grew
The website started with a page for each
class with yearbook cover. Personal pages were added as alumni became more
interested in getting in contact with other alumni. An interactive forum,
Smokes Signal, keeps alumni talking on a daily basis.
And we’re still growing
We have photo contests, history pages, a
prayer page, and scrapbook pages. Our alumni emailing list has grown to
over 1000. There are over 500 members in the CCS Facebook community.
CCS Alumni
Scholarship
At the June 2009 Awards Night ceremony,
the CCS Alumni Association presented its first scholarships. The seniors
selected were Amy Kapitan, Sara Podolec, and Jordan
DeLuca.
Scholarship Qualification
The Alumni Association awards scholarships
to CCS seniors who have demonstrated a caring for and commitment to school
and community during their high school career.
Seniors are asked to submit applications
describing activities they feel qualify them for the scholarship. This
year we will again award three scholarships, but we will be increasing the
amount to $200 each.
Scholarship Funding
The Scholarship Fund is over $6,900. One
dollar of your membership fee goes to the fund. Reunion classes often make
contributions to the fund on behalf of former classmates. Proceeds from
the sale of cookbooks and DVDs go to the scholarship fund.
Fund Drive Month
March is Scholarship Fund Drive month.
This year the drive raised over $800.
Thank you for helping future CCS alumni

Friday Evening
Reception and
Saturday Evening
Party
Friday Night—Freight Yard
For the second year the Friday Night
alumni reception will be at the restored Freight Depot. (behind Hubbard
Hall). Light snacks and beverages will be provided. This year we’ll be
starting at 6pm, one hour later than in past years. The parking lot is now
paved. Plus this year we’ll know how to turn on the outside lights
(There’s a switch? Really?)
Saturday Night—Legion
For the first time, from 7pm to 11pm on
Saturday the Legion grounds will be open for alumni. A cash bar and music
will be available. The music may be loud, but there’s enough room for old
and young to spread out. We’ll move inside if it rains. There is a $5
cover charge, but if you attend the afternoon picnic then you can hang
around for free.
