Yvonne Motsiff McCullen

CAMBRIDGE, NY - On September 29, 2015, Yvonne joined her husband, Frank and her daughter, Bonnie in Heaven. She was a resident at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls, NY where she has been residing for a couple of years. She was 85.

Yvonne was an only child born to Albert & Audrey (Webster) Motsiff on December 20, 1929 in Canada and immediately became a US citizen and a resident of Cambridge, NY where she lived her whole life.

Yvonne met Frank McCullen at the Harvest Moon on Route 22, then near Hedges Lake north of Cambridge. They were married shortly afterwards. Together they bought a piece of land on West Main Street in Cambridge where they started building their home and business (McCullen Dry Cleaners). She helped run the family business with Frank for 39 years. After retirement, they bought a small acre of land and built a brand new home on King Road in Center Cambridge where they lived until they sold that and moved to Cambridge Woods Senior Apartments.

Yvonne dedicated her whole adult life to taking care of her husband & family. She was an avid knitter, making beautiful design sweaters, wool socks, scarves & mittens for all of her family so they would be warm in the winter. She also had a great talent for sewing, making beautiful handmade quilts to keep her family warm, as well making many of their clothes. Yvonne loved to cook! She fed her family 3 square home cooked meals every day. She had many delicious, secret family recipes…her most famous recipe being her refrigerator pickles…loved & craved by many! Yvonne also loved gardening and birdwatching. She had beautiful herb & flower gardens and attracted many beautiful birds to her feeders.

Besides her parents, Yvonne is predeceased by her husband, Frank and her youngest daughter, Bonnie McCullen Reid Ellison. She is survived by her daughters, Betsy McCullen and Beverly (Leverne) Perry; a stepson Frank McCullen; her grandchildren Bert (Jenn) Perry, Adene (Andy) Karhan, Alyssa (Jared) DeMagistris, Mitch (Christy) Ellison and Myles Ellison; and her great grandchildren Lexi Perry, Jewel & Christian Karhan, Jacob & Caroline DeMagisitris and Luke & Lexi Ellison.

Yvonne has generously donated her body to Albany Medical Center’s Anatomical Gift Program. There will be no calling hours or service.

The family would like to give their sincere thanks and gratitude to ALL of the staff at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Cambridge Valley, Hoosick Falls and Bennington Rescue Squads and to all the care givers & volunteers who so graciously gave their time and attention to Yvonne. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
