Wayne Hamilton, 66, of Lakeridge, VA, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at Sentara
Northern Virginia Medical Center, Woodbridge, Virginia after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. He was born on October 7, 1958, in Bennington, Vermont, to William and Hazel Hamilton. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1978 and he answered the call to serve his country joining the United State Air Force in September 1978. During hisdistinguished 21-year Air Force career as a Satellite and Wideband Communications Specialist,
Wayne attaining the rank of MSGT and was awarded many commendations. He was a Lifemember of the American Legion (Post #364) and the National Rifle Association and a memberof Sons of the American Legion and Forty and Eight. Wayne also served as a board member ofthe Rollingwood Village Homeowners Association.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen Hamilton, his mother Hazel Hamilton, Buskirk,
NY, brother Randy (Margaret) Hamilton, Cambridge, NY, three sisters-in-law, Sharon (Mark)
Biever, Sterling, VA; Debra Ball (St. Petersburg, FL); and Cynthia Whitaker (Seffner, FL). Four
nephews, Philip (Kelsey) Biever, Chesapeake, VA; Ryan (Christy) Biever, Virginia Beach, VA;
Christopher (Christina) Ball, Tampa, FL; and William Hamilton, Hoosick Falls, NY. Two nieces,
Heather (Harold) Ball, Dunedin, FL, and Belinda Hamilton, Buffalo, NY. Great nephew is Chase
Biever, Chesapeake, VA. Great nieces Dakota Biever, Virginia Beach, VA and Sierra Ball,
Dunedin, FL. Wayne was predeceased by his father, William Hamilton, Buskirk, NY, brother,
Richard Hamilton, Cambridge, NY, and his grandmother Alfrettae Brown, Cambridge, NY.
Wayne will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to his country, strong work ethics, and
deep love for his family and friends. He was known for his sense of humor and kindness. He
had an infectious laugh that brightened any room with his caring nature that made him beloved
figure to all who knew him. He was a man of strength, warmth, and generosity, always ready to
lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement.
A memorial service will be held to honor his remarkable life, service, and dedication at the
Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. The Celebration of Life will follow the gravesite
services. The date to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in
memory of Wayne to the American Legion Post #364, 3640 Friendly Post Ln, Woodbridge, VA
