Patricia "Patti" Turi

Patricia A. “Patti” Turi, 58, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a long fought, courageous battle with peritoneal mesothelioma.

Born April 16, 1958 in Ridgewood, NJ, she was the daughter of A. Richard and Gail (Kent) Turi.

Patti was a gifted athlete, artist, enjoyed photography and had a great love of the outdoors. She was active in many sports throughout her years at Cambridge Central School, graduating in 1976. She continued her interest in sports and designed her own major in athletic training at Russell Sage College, graduating in 1980. She subsequently went on to obtain a Master’s Degree from Castleton and taught biology at St. Anne’s, Fort Ann, and lastly Warrensburg for many years before retiring. Patti never had children, but considered her students to be her “kids” and enjoyed the interactions with them long after teaching.

In addition to her parents, Patti is survived by her brother, Anthony “Tony” Turi and his wife, Barbara, and their children, Michael and Gabrielle, and brother, John Turi and his wife, Sherri, and son, Jon. She also leaves behind her special friend, Peter Wechgelaer, without whose friendship and support, it is unlikely she could have spent much of the past few years in the home that she loved. She is also survived by a multitude of extended family, many loving friends, and her furry friends, Mystic and Kitty.

Friends may call on Patti’s family from 2 to 4 pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 4 pm, at the funeral home.

Patti’s family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Kredentser and Dr. Paul Bachman for the wonderful care provided throughout her 15-year fight. Her family would also like to thank her many friends who have helped and supported her in many ways.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to mesothelioma research in Patti’s memory at kayaking4meso.org.
