Olive LeBarron Chesbro, 95, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, at the Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home in Clifton Park, New York.
Born on June 10, 1929, in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Melvin J. LeBarron, Sr. and Eliza Colby LeBarron. Olive was a lifelong member of her community and a woman deeply rooted in family, service, and quiet strength. She graduated from Cambridge Central School and went on to share a long and fulfilling life with her husband, William G. Chesbro. Together, they owned and operated the cherished Cossayuna Lake rental cottages for over four decades—creating a welcoming haven for generations of visitors and friends.
In addition to her work at the lake, Olive was a dedicated real estate agent with Jerome Wright Realty in Cambridge. Known for her warmth and honesty, she helped many families find a place to call home.
Olive was a kind and caring person, remembered for her gentle nature and the sincerity with which she approached life and relationships. Though she never had children of her own, she was deeply devoted to her extended family, and her presence will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, William, who passed away on December 23, 2008, as well as by her parents.
A graveside service will be at 12pm on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge with Rev. Carol Finke officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice, in honor of Olive’s generous spirit.
