Matthew Jonathan O'Hearn

 

Matthew Jonathan O’Hearn,37, died peacefully at home on Monday, November 28, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.

Born April 30, 1974, in Cambridge, he was the youngest child of Francis “Dick” and Barbara Murray O’Hearn.

He graduated from Cambridge Central School, Class of 1994, and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Wadhams Hall Seminary. He spent his life at different missions pursuing his dream to be in the religious life.

He enjoyed walking and spending time at the beach in Maine.

Matt was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich and a member of the Knight’s of Columbus Council of St. Patrick’s Church in Cambridge.

Along with his parents, he is survived by four siblings, Richard O’Hearn of Troy, Mary Beth Hastings, Bridget Rowan and husband Mark and Erin O’Hearn and husband Brian Toleman—all of Cambridge; nieces and nephews,Adam and Brian O’Hearn, Jordan and Aydin Hastings, Paige and Mattie Rowan and James and Brigid Toleman; in-laws, Sarah O’Hearn of Troy and Bill Hastings of Cambridge and his devoted canine companion, Leonard.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the family home at 8 Rockside Drive in Cambridge on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 2 to 7 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 36 Bleeker Street, Greenwich. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Center Cambridge Road, Cambridge.
