passed away
in Essex on
May 17,
2013, at the
age of 69,
following a
courageous
battle with
cancer.
Sherry grew
up in Eagle
Bridge,
N.Y., where
she was the
eldest of
seven
children,
and a 1961
graduate of
Cambridge
Central
School in
Cambridge,
N.Y.
Sherry was
predeceased
by a sister,
Carol, and
her father
and mother,
Carl and
Shirley
Moses.
Sherry is
survived by
her loving
husband,
Richard
"Dick"
Somerset, of
47 years.
She met Dick
while
attending
Plattsburgh
College (SUNY).
They were
married in
Hoosick
Falls, N.Y.,
on Dec. 18,
1965.
Sherry is
lovingly
remembered
by her two
sons, Chad
and wife,
Theresa, and
their two
children,
Chelsea and
Garrett, of
Essex
Junction;
and Todd and
wife, Beth,
and their
daughter,
Edie, of
Hampton, N.H.
She is also
survived by
her
siblings,
Gayle Hahn
and husband,
Norm, Cindy
Gottry and
husband,
Ken, Richard
Moses and
wife, Kathy,
Nancy
Alexander,
and Sue Akin
and husband,
Rick; and
many nieces
and nephews.
Sherry
was an
elegant
woman and
although she
had many
hobbies
during her
years, she
will be most
remembered
as a
passionate
gardener.
She spent
many hours
in her
gardens
tending to
not only her
own flower
beds, but
many within
the
community.
Sherry loved
having her
family
together
sharing
stories and
she loved to
laugh. She
made a lot
of friends
in the Essex
community
and she
continued to
smile
throughout
her battle
with cancer.
Sherry was
an Assistant
Librarian at
the Essex
Free Library
in Essex,
until her
retirement
in 2012, and
she was a
Friend of
the Library
for over 30
years. The
family would
like to
thank all
the great
people at
Vermont
Center for
Cancer
Medicine and
the VNA for
all their
compassion
and support.
She will be
missed
greatly by
all.
Per her
request,
there will
be no
visiting
hours. A
funeral
service will
be held with
family and
close
friends at
the Essex
United
Methodist
Church on
Wednesday,
May 22,
2013, at 11
a.m., with a
celebration
of her life
following
shortly
after in the
lower
meeting area
at the
church. In
lieu of
flowers,
