Gary Hugh Moses

 Gary Hugh Moses, 62, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire after a long struggle with cancer with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Diane Tate Moses.

 

Born Friday, February 18, 1949 at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Edward and Marjorie Scott Moses. He graduated from Cambridge Central School, class of 1967, and served two years in the United States Army. He and Diane were married on September 12, 1970.

 

From a teenager on, Gary loved working at the Moses Vegetable Farm. He worked in the fields as a youth and in recent years, he delivered produce to local markets.

 

Gary was employed by the Rensselaer County Department of Public Safety as a 911 Dispatcher. He worked in Troy for 36 years before ill health forced him to retire.

 

For the past 44 years, Gary dedicated his life to the community while serving on the Buskirk Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Life Member of the department holding many different offices including Chief of the Department and was the current 1st Assistant Chief.

 

Along with his wife of 41 years, he is survived by two children, Michael L. Moses and wife Heather of Eagle Bridge and Jodie Sinsabaugh and husband Ron of Cambridge; five siblings, Barbara Burke, Patricia Bombria, Christine McDonald ( John), Stephen Moses (Wendy) and Janice DelRosario (Donald); nieces and nephews, Travis, Danny, Lindsay, Jill, Caryn, Jennison, Laurel and Kristen; his in-laws Lawrence and Phyllis Tate and Alan Tate and wife Dian Ehrenfeund and his four beloved grandchildren, Colby and Ashley Moses and Kylie and Ayla Sinsabaugh, who were the world to him.

 

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge from 4 to 7 PM.

 

A funeral service will be held at the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 East Main Street (the church at the stop light), on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Woodlands Cemetery with a reception following at the Buskirk Fire House.

 

The family request memorial donations be made to the Buskirk Fire Department, 2217 Buskirk-West Hoosick Road, Buskirk, NY 12028.
