Mary Mulligan Cobb

Albany-Mary M. Cobb, 91, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany.

Born June 9, 1923 in Cambridge, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Powers) Mulligan.  Mary was educated in Cambridge (Class of 1941) the Mildred Elley Business College.  She worked for the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance as a Tax Examiner for 25 years until retiring in the 1990’s.  After retiring, Mary was the bookkeeper at Sacred Heart Church in North Albany and she also volunteered at the food pantry at the church.    

While living in Cambridge, Mary attended St. Patrick’s Church and when she moved to Albany many years ago she attended St. Pius X Church in Loudonville.  She enjoyed reading and spending time at her home at Warner Bay on Lake George.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, John V. Cobb in 1989; brothers, Frank and Henry Mulligan; sister, Helen Bennett.

Mary is survived by her sisters, Margaret Connell of Albany, Alice Mulligan of Cambridge, Jean (Donald) Lesperance of Loudonville and Cecelia Fitzgerald of Ballston Spa; a brother-in-law, Joseph Cobb of Castleton, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge.

Spring interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cambridge.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Pine West Plaza, Bld. 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave., Ext., Albany, NY  12205.

Mary’s family wishes to thank the staff of the Blue Unit at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Mary while she was a resident.
