Elizabeth V. "Betty" Jordan

Elizabeth V. Jordan (Betty), 89, of Valley Falls, N.Y. passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bennington, Vt. on August 11, 1921, Elizabeth was the daughter of Ralph George Galloway and Alice Snow Galloway. She was raised in South Cambridge, N.Y., baptized at Methodist Episcopal Church, South Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School.

Elizabeth married Millard (Top) Jordan on September 27, 1943. They were married for 47 years until his passing. Elizabeth was a devoted homemaker, caring for her four boys. After raising her children, Elizabeth was employed with the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Postal Service.

 She enjoyed participating in Eastern Star and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Johnsonville. Elizabeth and Top thoroughly enjoyed traveling, dancing, dining with friends and family gatherings with their children and grandchildren. Her great sense of humor was well appreciated by her friends and family.

 Survivors include her four sons, Lee R. Jordan of Farmington Hills, Mich., M. Douglas Jordan of Valley Falls, George T. Jordan of Clifton Park and Terry B. (Lisa) Jordan of Valley Falls; eight grandchildren, Lee McCarthy (Andrea) of Green Island, Raymond (Toni) Jordan of Farmington Hills, Mich., Eva Jordan of Farmington Hills, Mich., Bridget (Chris) Sawyer of Troy, Chad Jordan of Troy, Becket Cail (Dillon) of Melrose, Erin (fiancé James Stoddard) Jordan of Cohoes and Nathan Jordan of Valley Falls. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several cousins.

 In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was predeceased by her sister, Jane Eldred; and her daughter-in-law, Shirley Jordan.

 Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Chase Funeral Home, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral services will follow calling hours at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in the family plot in Millertown Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for the care and compassion for Elizabeth which allowed her to stay at her home.
