Glenn William McLenithan

Glenn William McLenithan, 50, aka Buzzard/Buzzy, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Valeda (Santerre) McLenithan and father of Sasha and Hailie.Born Friday, July 29, 1960 in Cambridge, he was the son of Ann (Williams) McLenithan Mantz and the late Irving A. “Baldy” McLenithan.

After graduating from Cambridge Central School, class of 1979, he joined the United States Army and served for three years.He spent several years working in construction in Watertown. He returned to the Cambridge area and worked for several contractors before forming a partnership with George Stefanovich which they called Big Buzzard Construction. Unfortunately, Buzzard’s health had limited his work capabilities for a while.

Glenn grew up in the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church.He was a member of Captain Maxson Post # 634 of the American Legion, the Shushan Fire Department and the National Turkey Federation an Ducks Unlimited. He spent may years deer and turkey hunting, riding four wheelers and hosting annual sledding parties for many friends at South Hollow and Bog Swamp hunting camps.. He also liked fishing, boating on the lakes and relaxing by the Battenkill River with his family and friends.

He is predeceased by his father and brother, Kyle Lee McLenithan.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 21 years, Valeda and two adored daughters, Sasha N. and Y. Hailie, all of Shushan; his mother Ann and her husband William Mantz of North Granville; two siblings, Kim McLenithan Haskell and husband Drew and Todd McLenithan and wife Suanne, all of Cambridge; his in-laws, Maurice and Yvonne Santerre of Cambridge; Joe Santerre and wife Colleen, Richard Santerre and wife Valerie and Michelle S. Miller and husband Frank; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved animals, Lizzie, Jade and Yager.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 2 P. M. to 6 P. M. at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011at 11 A. M. at the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 East Main Street with Rev. Kate Kotfila and Father Liam Condon co-officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, County Route 59, Cambridge. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the building fund at Capt. Maxson Post # 634 of the American Legion, State Route 22, Cambridge, NY 12816.
