Gerald Eddy

Winooski, VT - Gerald Ernest Eddy, 76, son of the former Ernest Eddy, and Alretta (Barber) Eddy of Bennington, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2018, in the comfort of his home.

He will be extremely missed by his wife, Catherine (DeForge) Eddy of 35 years, daughter Stephanie and wife, Elizabeth of South Burlington, VT; sons Stephen and fiancée Megan of Milton, VT; Scott and fiancée Tracy, of Eagle Bridge, NY; brothers Nelson and wife Sally of Cambridge, NY; Rich and wife Sandy of Little River, SC; granddaughters, Caury of Cambridge, NY., Emmalynn of Milton, VT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Milton Eddy, in 2015.

After active duty, Jerry served in the Vermont Army National Guard for 32 years before retiring with an honorable discharge. In 1985, Jerry moved to Vermont, married his wife, Catherine, and was employed by Velan Valve Corporation until his retirement in 2000. After working college campus security for several years, he secured a job at Green Mountain Flagging in 2009, where he spent the last 8 years working tirelessly as a dedicated Lead Supervisor. Jerry was an outdoorsman--hunting, fishing, and tearing cars apart when he wasn't keeping up with household maintenance or spending time with his family. Though struggling with his own health issues, and the demands of work, Jerry always assured that his wife's needs came first. He cherished his little dog, Sadie-roo, who remained his faithful companion, lying by his side until the end. A very special thank you goes out to the impeccable team at Green Mountain Flagging for their emotional support, and extremely generous monetary contribution to the family through this trying time.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 12, 2018 at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family's favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or The Shriners, Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
