Emily Mable Leslie Montgomery

Emily M. Montgomery, 79, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday night, April 8, 2012, at Saratoga Hospital with her family at her side.

Born May 26, 1932, in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Hahn) Leslie.

Emily graduated from Cambridge Union School, Class of 1951 and was a member of the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a deacon. She was also a member of the Cambridge Valley Senior Citizens and former member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a cook at the Meikleknox Home in Cambridge for 13 years before becoming a homemaker. Emily enjoyed crafts, knitting and crocheting to keep busy.

In addition to her parents, Emily was also predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Howard E. Montgomery, whom she married Sept. 25, 1953, he passed away Sept. 18, 2001; and two brothers, William Leslie and Charles Leslie.

Emily is survived by her two children, Stephen Montgomery and his wife, Jan of East Greenwich and Debora Wallace and her companion, William LaMotte, of Gansevoort, N.Y. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Stevenson of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Sally Oliver of Syracuse, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Mark, Leslie and David Montgomery and nieces and nephews. Emily also leaves behind her feline companion, Tigger.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 E. Main Street, Cambridge with the Rev. Kate Kotfila and the Rev. Debbie Earthrowl co-officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
