Edward Salcedo

Edward Salcedo of Fort Myers FL passed away on Thursday March 2nd at the Temple University hospital in Philadelphia PA.   

 Edward was born in Bogota, Colombia on February 23rd, 1950, and moved to Medellin, Colombia where he attended both grade and high school.  Edward came to the United States   and became a member of the Anthony Farrara family attending Cambridge Central School from 1970 t0 1971. 

 Edward graduated from Mercy College in 1975 with a BS degree in Business and became a tennis professional for 10 years in the New York City area.  Edward also worked in financial services, data processing and security in later years. 

 Edward was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in May 2021 and spent the last 20 months battling this terminal disease.   Fellow CCS classmate, Dr. Daniel Dempsey, former Chief of Surgery at Temple University was instrumental in arranging a lung transplant for Edward at Temple University and provided support to Edward and Mireya during his extended hospital stays. 

 

Edward is survived by his wife, Mireya of 37 years, a twin brother Jaimie Salcedo in Medellin Colombia and numerous family members in Colombia. Edward's wife Mireya wishes to thank all the friends and family for their support during this difficult time especially Bob and Elaine Brown and the Gift of Life Howie's House in Philadelphia which provided “a home away from home” for transplant patients and families.
