Edward Kenyon


Salem- Edward Earl “Ed” Kenyon, 69, of Salem, NY was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at his residence.

Born March 17, 1947 in Cambridge, NY, Ed was the son of the late Earl Francis Kenyon and Luella (Brown) Kenyon. Ed worked for many years as a Tugboat Captain for the New York State Department of Waterways in Waterford, NY prior to his retirement. He was a former member of the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department and Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad. Ed was also a Master Instructor of Sportsman Education for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as well as a member of the Salem Fish and Game Club.

Ed’s passions were fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also enjoyed smoking meat in his little smoke shack. Ed was also a vegetable judge for the Washington County Fair.

Ed was a loving father to Darrel Kenyon (Sarah) of Salem, NY, Eric Kenyon of Cambridge, NY, and Earl Kenyon (Kyle George) of Jerome, MI. In addition to his children, Ed leaves behind his cherished grandchildren who they affectionately knew as poppy or papa, Hunter, Savannah, and Chase Kenyon of Salem, NY, and CJ, Donathan, and Janyla George-Kenyon of Jerome, MI. Additionally, Ed leaves behind a brother, Lawrence Kenyon, an aunt, Helen Walsh, dear friends Greg and Ann Hoin, as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Center White Creek Baptist Church, 28 Center White Creek Lane, Eagle Bridge, NY with Rev. Clyde Fobes officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Ed be made to the Salem Fire Department, PO Box 449, Salem, NY 12865, Salem Rescue Squad, PO Box 360, Salem, NY 12865 or Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, 37 Gilbert St., Cambridge, NY 12816.
