Donald Ernest “Doc” Stearns Sr., 81, passed away on Wednesday July 12th at the Center for Living & Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls. Donald was born in Cambridge, NY, on June 22, 1942, son of the late William and Nellie (Graves) Stearns. He graduated from Cambridge Central School, Class of 1963.

Donald was formerly employed at various factories in Hoosick Falls and local garages. He enjoyed tinkering with televisions and clocks, playing card games, bingo, watching movies, time spent with family, tending to his trees, and mowing his lawn.

Survivors include his children Donald Ernest (Lena) Stearns Jr., of Bennington, VT, Cassandra Sue (Donald) Gardner of Hoosick Falls, NY, and Margaret Stearns of Franklin, MA, sister Joan LaBarron of Buskirk, NY, brother William Stearns of White Creek, NY, grandchildren Anthony Wescott, Christopher (Elizabeth) Wescott, Dominik Wescott, Tony Mangano, step-grandchildren Andrew Gardner, Lynda Gardner, Zachary Gardner, Jaime Gardner, great-grandchildren Bradley Wescott, Chayton Wescott, Damien Wescott, also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. Donald is predeceased by two sisters Donna Jean Andrews, Carol Accetta and a great-grandson Vinny Mangano.

Funeral services and burial will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation through the funeral home.
