Lloyd "Bunk" Peters

 

Cambridge-Lloyd J. “Bunk” Peters, 68, of Cambridge, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Albany Medical Center.

Bunk was born in Cambridge on July 3, 1948 and was the son of the late Lloyd Benny and Margaret Conklin Peters.

He was a 1966 graduate of Cambridge Central School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Bunk worked for the NYS Department of Transportation from 1976 to 2000 retiring as a mechanic from the Waterford, NY location.

Bunk was a member of the Captain Maxson American Legion Post 634 in Cambridge; the VFW Post 7291 in Greenwich and was a member of various Tractor Puller’s Associations.

Bunk enjoyed tractor pulling, playing cards and the lottery. He was part of the Stewart’s Brew Crew. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a mentor to his grandson, Daniel Telford.

In addition to his parents, Bunk was predeceased by his siblings, John Wilbur, Lodis Rintoul, Lane J. Peters, Leonard Peters and Laurie Peters.

Bunk is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Martell Peters whom he married July 3, 1970; his children, Lynn (Donald) Telford and Lon (Monica Bisson) Peters, all of Cambridge. He is also survived by his siblings, Larry Peters of Bennington, Leland Peters of Tennessee and Linda Jean Peters of Oregon; his grandson, Daniel K. Telford and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 1-4 pm at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge. A funeral service will begin at the conclusion of the calling hours at 4 pm.

Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bunk may be made to the VFW Post 7291, 63 Abeel Ave., Greenwich, NY 12834 or the Captain Maxson American Legion Post 634, 2106 State Route 22, Cambridge, NY 12816.
