Schenectady- Anthony James O’Connor, 62, of Schenectady passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 peacefully at his home.
Anthony, Tony to most, was born on October 29, 1953, in Troy, NY. He was the son of Cecelia (Kenny) O’Connor, of Glens Falls and the late, Maurice (Okie) O’Connor.

Tony was a graduate of Cambridge Central School, Class of 1971; where he played football, basketball and soccer. He then continued on to Union College, Class of 1976 where he played football and soccer.
Tony followed his dad’s vocation by teaching and coaching for many years. He taught at St. Gregory’s School for Boys, in Loudonville, NY for 20 years; where he coached soccer and basketball. He presently worked in Schenectady and Colonie Central School Districts for 15 years. For several summers, he was a teacher at Portsmouth Abbey School, Portsmouth, RI.

Over the years, Tony was a diehard fan of the Yankees, Celtics and Fighting Irish. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf, studying and reading history, and following politics. But above all what made him most happy were family events, for he was a devoted son, brother and uncle. All who knew him will remember him as a highly principled and selfless man, who loved his faith and his country.

In addition to his father, Tony is predeceased by his infant brother, John Patrick O’Connor.
Tony passed away suddenly and leaves behind his mother and six siblings, Mary (Rick) Preece of Fairfax, VA, Anne O’Connor of New Hartford, Marty (Ann) O'Connor, of Monroe, Peggy (John) Costello of Pittsburgh, PA, Dan O’Connor of Glens Falls, NY and Joe O’Connor of Ballston Lake, NY; 15 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews who all mourn his loss.
 
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 4-7 pm at the Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 11 am at the St. Mary’s Church, 62 Warren Street, Glens Falls. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
In lieu of flowers, the O’Connor family asks for donations be sent to the American Life League ( A National Prolife Organization), P.O. Box 1350, Stafford, VA 22555.
