Cambridge - Agnes Agatha Rogers, 94, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Agnes was the youngest daughter of Joseph and Anna (Mills) Rogers. Born and raised on the family farm in Center Cambridge, she attended the one room schoolhouse in Center Cambridge and graduated from the Cambridge School. Agnes later attended the School for Attendant Nurses at Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington, Vermont. She was employed by Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge then Samaritan Hospital in Troy in the med-surge department where she retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1995.
In her retirement, Agnes continued to live on the family farm until her health declined in June. She enjoyed watching her brother’s cows and calves in the fields, mowing her lawn, and relaxing on her swing. Agnes was also known for her crochet and knitting skills, making afghans, blankets, sweaters, hats and mittens for family and friends, and donating blankets to various maternity wards and hats to deployed military members.
Agnes was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Cambridge.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Antonio, Raymond, Frank, Martin, and John; sister, Stella; nephews, James Rogers and Phillip Rogers and nieces, Jacqueline Tucker and Deirdre Lane.
Agnes is survived by her nephews, Mark Rogers, Donald Schmitt, Dale Rogers, Michael Rogers, Danny Rogers, Joseph Rogers and Edward Rogers; nieces Dorothy Vars, Darlene Coppola, Mary Burdick, Linda Trejo, Diane Rogers, Joan Rogers, Rosemarie Rogers, Fayeanne McCormick, Catherine Hyland, and Suzanne Rogers and families as well as many great and great-great nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Karen Rogers.
A heartfelt thank you to neighbors Martha Bates, Astrid Davis, and Alan Davis for looking in on and running errands for Agnes over the years. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Ronald Dyess, Jr., RN, Albany Medical Center’s Cardiothoracic Center, for his guidance and support during Agnes’ recent stay.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, 17 South Park Street, Cambridge on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 10am with Rev. Peter Tkocz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cambridge. After the burial, the family will host a reception at St. Patrick’s Church Parish House.
