.

And then there were three ... the south side of the West End was rebuilt after the 1884 fire.

Of the original 6 buildings only 3 remain. Left to right
(A) Carpenter Building; Skellie Clothing; McWhorter Clothing; McWhorter's Frozen Food Locker Plant; Russo Ristorante; China King (B) Baker's Pharmacy; J.M.McWhorter Dry Goods & Shoes; Shapiros; Lauderette; Fedlers; Curves (C) Millinery shop; West End Pharmacy; Cooper's Pharmacy; Imhoff Law Office (D) Legrys Cigars, Tobacco, Jewelry; Francis Ackley ... GONE (E) Qua Dry Goods; McWhorters Dry Goods ... GONE(F) Watkins; Tin Shop; Fire House ... GONE

Some things remain the same, like the Victorian foot bridge across the Owl Kill

BTW, it was mighty cold walking over there this morning. And none of that "sissy" wind-chill cold. I'm talking thermometer cold, like when I was a lad walking a mile to school, up hill both ways
