Gene Hughes, Class of 1982 Southern Tennesse

The best thing about Fall: it's not Winter! ;)

Alice Badger Lewis. Class of 1967. Ft. Mc Coy, Florida

Fall in Florida is still very wet. Nothing compared to the fall foliage in north east...

Mary Ann McMorris Bassett 1962

September 25th was our 50th wedding anniversary. Fall leaves is why we chose Sept. my pictures have now faded to black and white w/ no beautiful color from my parents front door. Really miss fall. We had planned to go to Savannah Ga to meet June Johnson Lawrence (who was my Maid of honor) BUT the weather wasn't sounding good and still isn't now BUT we'll meet on October 14th. June and I used to walk all over Cambridge in the fall because of all the colored leave to kick around. North Caroling color is all in the mountains, But very surprised to get McIntosh apples in NC mountains ,but not AS GOOD  as VERMONT's See everyone in July !

Laurelyn Langer Wichgers  class of 1966  Whidbey Island,Wa.

Autumn is my favorite time of year;apples, pumpkins, blue skies and maple leaves.||
I especially remember walking to and from school in the Fall. And of course, the cheerleading at the football games.

But oh, the beach walks are nice too!

RICHARD McLenithan--CLASS OF 1960--Queensbury New York--

Growing up on a farm on State Route 313 I loved the fall weather and the colors that the change in weather brought. For me it was the best time of the year.

Peggy McMahon McLenithan Class of 1985 - Cambridge, New York

The fall draws people from all over the world and it is one of the most beautiful times of year here in the Northeast. I have a new job this year working at Hoosac school in Hoosick, New York and the beauty is incredible.  Attaching a photo of the Tibbits Mansion with some student outside enjoying the day.  Tibbits Mansion was the summer home, and now it is the girl's dorm and Administrators' offices.
Peggy’s  pictures are on the new website page  Seasons: Fall

Tim Kamper, Class of 1964, Pheonix AZ

We were at Yellowstone 2 weeks ago and experience early winter at 9000 feet.  Yes, that is Old Faithful and it was just about freezing with snow accumulation that night.

Fall is here in Georgia. My youngest, Leeanne Geroe who went to school in Salem for a couple years, is getting married on the 9th and we are expecting the guests to start showing up Tues. It will be the first time since I left Germany in 2001 that all my kids and their foster brother are together for a few days. It will be days of kitchen drudgery for me, but so many grandkids to love on!!

We are hoping to buy a vacation home in Savannah this year and also to take the RV to Florida for a few weeks in the winter. RVing is fun and very social. And I get to escape the extreme cold of Georgia winters that almost get down to freezing, or the low 40's, which is just as bad. But spring starts in February and that makes up for having to wear socks & shoes and maybe a real coat for a couple weeks.

As for fall in Cambridge, Leaf Peekers is what we always called them, or maybe Sunday drivers if we were being nice. I remember that when out of towners (foreigners)  moved in my parents complains about those outsiders raising the price of real estate too much. And one time that was my own aunt! On the other hand, after 20 years you could be considered a native. That is better than here in the South where I am a d-mn Yankee forever. OH well, my kids went to high school here so they are locals/natives.

Betty Jeskie White, Class of '55, Greenwich, NY

We were at our camp in Arllington, VT this weekend.  Some of the trees on 313 are starting to change, but not much color yet.  In another week or so it will be a beautiful ride.  At our home in Greenwich, the place across the street has a lot of nice maples, so we are treated to some beautiful fall colors.  No change as yet.  I like to decorate with mums and pumpkins, a few hay bales and also a few Halloween decorations in the mix.

October 26, 1957 is my favorite fall memory from Cambridge.  That was the beautiful sunny but cool day that Glen White ('57) and I were married at St. Patricks and our wedding reception was at the wonderful old Hotel Cambridge.  Such a happy day with friends and family, almost 58 years ago.

Bob Wright '56 Life Long Cambridge Resident
My memories of the early 50's in Cambridge include pick up football games on the vacant lot on Ave A just around the corner from South Park St., the smell of burning leaves, a cloud of smoke hanging over the Village and waiting in Bob Burn's Barbershop/Pool Hall for a bundle of Times Record Newspapers to be dropped off at LeGry's Drug Store so I could deliver the news. I plan to send you some more current photos in a day or two. Everyone will recognize the site of these two photos taken a couple of years ago.
Bob’s pictures can be seen on line

Ken Gottry, Class of 1968, Cambridge NY

Phil Bell (CCS '74) owns the two buildings on the left, which includes the old post office. Kathleen Ward has her real estate business in Paul Dennis' old coffee shop and candy store on the right.

If you haven't done so yet, search CCS Indians for the tribute to Gardner Cullinan, one of best athletes ever at CCS. But the story of how he met his wife, Connie, at Dennis' is awesome.  You will never see a spaghetti dinner the same after you read this story   (Note: The Search This Site Button is in the left hand column of the website. www.ccsindians.com  Real handy little device!!)

A nice painting by local artist George Van Hook is being raffled by the Cambridge Historical Society (http://cambridgenyhistoricalsociety.org/content/fundraising-donations)

NOTE: Ken has been putting some great pictures of old Cambridge on the Facebook page…Memories of Cambridge, Home of Pie A La Mode  https://www.facebook.com/groups/114464495326339/?ref=br_tf

You can learn amazing and interesting stuff about our hometown there. Wonderful input by people who know a lot about Cambridge.

Pauline,

I'd like to thank you for posting the news of the Kayaking4Meso event on Sept. 12th and also for Bill Hastings and Anne Brownell Trinkle for attending. I don't know either of these folks but sure appreciate their participation and support. I was able to attend but not kayak. We had a pontoon boat to enjoy the day. There were over 150 paddlers completing the event and it was a great day. It was tough on me as I had expected but I was glad to be able to be there. I am going through chemo now and just found to have a blood clot in my jugular vein but I am hanging in there!! I have been blessed to have wonderful doctors, friends and family to support me. This is my second fight with this and the type I have is known as peritoneal mesothelioma which occurs in one's abdomen and has a 1-2% survival rate. As Bill noted it is due to asbestos exposure and the purpose of the kayaking event is not only to raise awareness and support other survivors. Thank you for all the prayers!!

Thanks again to all who have contributed!!  Looking forward to hearing from a lot more of you real soon!  Also hope you will  enjoy the new page on the website.  www.ccsindians.com
