I could go on a long time about my fall memories of Cambridge, but I will summarize with just a few:

  • Raking leaves, dumping them in the garden, and then burning them. Ah, those were the days. The smell of burning leaves and smoke obliterating Route 22.
  • Going to Saturday football games to watch my big brother Mike play at quarterback and my sister Joyce as cheerleader.
  • Anticipating Halloween and trick or treating in town; also wondering who was going to blow up the Asgrow bridge this year (it never happened that I know of)
  • All of the campers headed back to the city and Lake Lauderdale once again became the private playground of me and John Christensen.

Most everyone knows that I miss Cambridge. What an incredible place to spend the first 15 years of my life

Linda Lufkin Taylor, Class of 1962, East Greenwich area, NY

Although the temperature today has gone back up into the 60's, we have been having our first real cold snap.  We took our camper and joined Betty and Glen White in Arlington over the weekend.  First time using the heater in the camper and it was necessary!!  Otherwise, a beautiful weekend.  The colors along 313 are coming in and in our area, near the Battenkill, it's getting very pretty.  Used to love the smell of burning leaves back in Coila.  As seniors, getting ready for the Halloween Carnival at school was always fun.  Running through the woods (that no longer exist) over Avenue B to Avenue A to Main Street to King's Bakery for donut holes for our food sales was always fun.  I never understood football games then but, with the help of 51 years with my husband, Tim, and instant replay, I do pretty well now.

 John and Paula Davis --Kodak,TN.
Not much leaf change yet, but  the folks in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are getting ready for all the fall festivals. We will be at peak in another two or three weeks. Memories of fall in Cambridge?   End of Lake dances, and beginning of school. I was not fond of fall. Lol.

June Johnson Lawrence, Class of '61, from Lakeland, FL

Not enough of the good ol' northern Fall here in Florida for me. Earlier this week we went for our early morning walk with the dog in 64 degree weather.  It was great!!  I am leaving for Germany in November to be with my daughter, Krista, and the birth of our third grandchild (third boy).  Our daughter, Maija, here in Florida found some fall color that reminded her of the north when she went to a local Reserve to take pictures.  Kind of made us miss the north even more. The Fall up north was and still is my favorite season with the colors and the temperatures. Maybe I'll get to see some of that in Germany, with, of course, our new little angel and the other two older angels.

 GAILE LOOMIS, Class of 1978
Update (10/6/15) on my brother Eric…Class of 1974
This morning Eric had a tracheotomy and a clot filter device implanted. I'd never heard of a clot filter (IVC) - I think I called it a clot catcher in a previous post - LOL. It prevents any clots from breaking loose and flowing to the brain, lungs, etc. Wish we all had one of those! Eric is very sedated. I'll be checking in again tomorrow (10/7) and I'll let everyone know how he's doing. The cards are flowing in and we'll be reading them and showing them to him soon! please feel free to friend me or message me on Facebook.

UPDATE ON THE UPDATE : 10/11/15 Eric continues to improve and will soon be in a "step down" ICU room. He still has a lung infection but he is off the ventilator and is breathing on his own. I know he is uncomfortable with all the tubes and needles and buzzers and beeping- a good sign that he is getting better and wants to go home! Thanks for all your well wishes.
