Dear CCS Alumni and Friends, hoping all is well with you and yours and that you are looking forward to the upcoming Holiday Season. My, my, this year is flying by!!!  I always thought old folk were crazy when they said that the older you get, the quicker time goes.  Well, now that I am old, I am saying the same thing.

I kept looking for some Fall pictures to put on line but it just didn’t happen. Betty Jeskie White, Mary Bates Muckle  and Gene Hughes sent in a few and I am extremely grateful!!! You really need to check out the picture of Mary Muckle!!!!  Fall is not over yet so please, send me some pictures.  If they are on your phone, you can text them to me at 662-808-9978 or email them to pauline@ccsindians.com   The pictures will be on the Seasons:Fall 2016 page in our website www.ccsindians.com

I think I have included everything that was sent to me.  If not, please remind me or send it again!!!

Gene Hughes, Class of 1982 has been keeping me and others updated on the fires in Tennessee

Just touching base with everyone, because it’s been awhile since I talked or texted to some.

We’re all fine, but it’s getting a bit smoky around here! We are located at approximately the tip of the black arrow in the image below. This image is of a TN Agriculture Dept wildfire map and is up to date as of yesterday, 11/12/16PICTURE IS IN THE SEASONS: FALL 2016 ON THE WEBSITE.

Rain, rain… let it rain! It’s been months since we’ve had any rain. For the first time since I’ve lived here in TN (it’s been over 20 years now), our local municipality’s water Dept has issued a water use restriction because of the extreme drought.f anyone knows a sure-fire way to make it rain, they could make a million bucks ‘round heyr’. ;)

UPDATE 11/14/16 Just want to give you all some indication of what it’s like here (and why I’ve not been going outside much even though the weather is nice).  This is a pic of the mountain behind my house, as viewed from my backyard. PICTURE IS IN THE SEASONS: FALL 2016 ON THE WEBSITE.

That haziness to the sky in the image isn’t morning moisture on a nice fall day, it’s smoke from all the fires burning in Tennessee. Typically, on a day like today, that sky would be a beautiful, crisp blue and the mountain view would be distinct and clear. Now, I like the smell of a wood fire on a nice fall day as much as the next person, but this is a bit too much of a good thing!

For those who’ve offered to keep us in your prayers, thank you. But please also pray for my friend Irene and her family. You see, she and her family live on that mountain you see in this image and her husband has a serious case of COPD.

Some of my favorite times of running into Dick Dawson were those in which we happened upon each other along the Battenkill. I also went to a party his daughter had at their house when I was in high school. I just think that he was one of the kindest, gentlest people one could ever want to meet, but he kept that side of him a secret from most of his students. That's the way it is with teachers and students, I think. I agree with others; he was a good man.

Catharine Jennings Kilby Class of 1973,
I loved art with Mr, Dawson.  He had a way of making art seem effortless and his classroom was a very calm place.  I don't think I ever heard him raise his voice.  He was a delightful man and a wonderful teacher.  The world was definitely a better pace because of him.  I hope that his family finds solace in our fond memories of their dad, husband and relative.

Oliver Perry, Class of 1959  has put 2 great videos on line of the post season CCS Football Team.  Sure will make you proud of the school and the town.  Thanks Ollie!!!
