Dear CCS Alumni and Friends, lots of you are looking for this winter to end and looking forward to SPRING!!!  But me?...... I am really looking forward to JULY!!!

I have my plane ticket purchased and am counting the days.(148)  I love getting out of the Mississippi heat and being in the cooler, less humid weather of the Cambridge Valley.  I always get such a rush when I first drive around the bend in Route 22 (by Benson’s) and head north for Cambridge….Going home!!   Even though I could take the short cut to Cousin Raz’s house, I always have to drive down Main Street first, just to check it out.

I look forward to seeing old friends and new ones that I have made through the website, newsletter and Facebook page.  The format of having all the classes there works out so well because, in such a small school, we had friends and relatives in other classes than our own.  It is great being able to see them all.  I hope that you are planning on being there!

The Alumni Committee is working on the events for this year (See notice at the bottom) as are the classes having banner years.  If your class needs help with organizing a reunion, finding classmates, promoting your event or just have some questions, please contact me.  I will help as much as I can.  Just remember, I reside in Mississippi so I have trouble with the “leg work”

I would like to suggest that if you are planning on going to the Reunion and require lodging, that you make your reservations as soon as possible.  We hope to have some suggestions on line and in the newsletter very soon.  If you would like to recommend a B&B, motel, inn, etc. please send me your recommendations so I can get them posted.

►In response to ideas for the 12th Annual All Classes Reunion

Susan Everall Bialac  Warner Robins, Ga
You asked for ideas.  Perhaps some folks remember the log races of old? There were wonderful floats. The OB/GYN had one featuring the pill. And maybe one was floating outhouse. I would love to see old photos of these races, the floats and the crowds watching them.

Mike Baratto, Class of 1962, Hoosick Falls, NY
How about an alumni band?????????????  for a few selections

John McCarty, 1966...

Pauline, in response to Karen Dusha's note about other activities I plan to attend the golf and picnic this year

Karen mentioned volleyball.  I would be willing to bring everything to the picnic to stage that event.. poles, net, lines and of course.... a ball.. I do have only one set up though...if you want to put the word out in your reunion info..if there is any interest, we could have some fun doing it...weather permitting of course....Let me know if there is anything you need me to do...thanks..

There are 148 days left until The 12th All Classes Reunion, starting July 15, 2016.

Pel, our son & his wife Erin are expecting a daughter mid-May. This will give us one of each as grandkids. Mike, our son-in-law, made it back from the Middle East safe & sound. And Pauline : Why no winter pics - around here, who needs a picture of dead brown grass & bare branches. Right now we are in the mid-70s which even for us is unseasonably warm.

Earl Costello 1943  In the Jan Newsletter #3, Ken Gottry mentioned the old Legion hall being kitty-corner from the fire station. Before that it was over the old A&P store next to Black Dog beverages. The A&P later became Bill's restaurant after the Legion had moved. I think the building has since disappeared.                                                Pauline, sorry I have no winter pictures from Florida. We are in Chiefland, which is about 40 miles east of Gainesville, home of the Florida Gators. We have had a few frosts on the golf course, but no pictures. So far January has been colder than normal.             Looking forward to the reunion, if I come up with any great ideas will pass them on.   Keep on rolling Pauline.

Gary Bolton class of 2003....
Looking for (prior 1900)   old photos of North Union St, specifically just before Spring Street. Would love a photo of what our house looked like originally.

MESSAGE FROM THE CCS ALUMNI COMMITTEE:

The CCS Alumni Association’s next planning meeting for the 2016 All-Classes Reunion will be on March 18 at 10 am in the Cambridge American Legion Building.

            The 2016 reunion weekend is July 15, 16, 17.

The committee is seeking ideas and people to help with one time assignments, such as a Friday night gathering event on July 15 after the alumni golf tournament.

The committee would welcome any age alumni to assist with the planning, ideas and helping on the weekend for this special annual event.  Last year almost 300 alumni and guests attended the Saturday party.

The reunion is a varied weekend.  The alumni golf tournament, under the direction of Michael Baratto, is held during the day on Friday, July 15.  Later that day there is an evening alumni gathering.  Saturday morning’s there are one or two choice activities.  From 1 pm to 6 pm there is the Legion pole barn gathering for reminiscing, appetizers, class pictures, and a meal.  Then to conclude the weekend there is the Sunday morning breakfast prepared by the Legion staff.

We request that you consider attending the March 18th meeting to share ideas, plan and help your alumni reunion committee.

Still looking for some WINTER PICTURES for the Season page on the web site.

Hope to hear from you soon!!

Pauline
