APRIL 14, 2016

Dear CCS Alumni and Friends, I am getting so excited about the Reunion/Cambridge Sesquicentennial Weekend!!  It sounds like we are going to be very busy!

On July 16th, a historical-themed float parade, sponsored by the Fire Department, will take place at 10 AM, followed by a muster competition. Over 100 fire departments will be asked to participate in the competition.

The festivities for the Alumni will be in the afternoon at the American Legion as always. The Saturday menu will be barbecue chicken, baked potato, pasta salad, green leafy salad with fresh fruit, and cupcakes. .  There will be vegetable, cheese, crackers, and pepperoni appetizers prior to the meal.

In addition, a block party and picnic will take place on Main Street, followed by an evening street dance with FIREWORKS.

I encourage you  to “LIKE” the village’s Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Cambridge150yrs/ This will give you an opportunity to be kept up to date with the various events and other activities. Additionally, you can share your own stories about the village.

Still thinking about it.

Susan (LaFlamme) Blocker - Class of '72  I have been back living in the Cambridge area (Salem) for 11 years after being in South Carolina for about 8 years. We  have 5 children and 12 grandchildren.  I hope to go to the reunion since meeting up with classmates and friends is something I love to do. I work part time in an office in Fort Edward and I head a group in the Cambridge area called "Women of Hope".  We meet at Jacob's Well in Cambridge the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9:00 am, have breakfast together, worship together and have someone share with us. It is a wonderful time of fellowship with ladies from various denominations and quite a number of ladies who have attended school in Cambridge. All ladies are welcome.

Thank you Pauline for keeping us up to date on what is happening.

John McCarty, Class of 1966

Sitting here reading all the replies...

I felt that i was a little short and to the point.... that comes from what i worked at for a bunch of years....but, I saw Karen’s / John's and Cheryl’s replies...(class of 66)  i feel that i must elaborate a bit...
Yes, I will attend..., our 50th...with Karen’s suggestion and after talking with Susan (Thurber / Sardi).... I will bring all of my volleyball stuff to provide an option to play volleyball during the reunion on Saturday..weather permitting... (Some of us can remember the monsoon 10 years ago)...

Will stay with my brother Bill while in town for the event...golf / parade / reunion / breakfast.... I’m getting tired now...., so, signing off.....

Breaking away from my wife’s family reunion in the Catskills to attend the CCS reunion on Saturday.  Still winter here in the Adirondacks with many of the small ponds still iced in.  Snow predicted, again, for this afternoon.  Been a trying maple syrup season for me – warm, then cold, then too cold, then colder yet.  Should be warm by July I’m hoping.

Paul H. Schneider, Class of 1959, Portland ,Tennessee
.Gotta dash off a quick e-mail before I head out to the garden for more Spring cleaning. Once again I won't be attending the Re-union. It’s a no travel Summer for us. We usually go to visit Dot's family in Newfoundland but will be skipping that trip this Summer. Possibly some local trips with Ed's ( Class of 1993) family. We are very busy getting our garden ready for several tours including a bus load of folks from Jackson TN in early June followed by a tour for The Perennial Plant Soc. of Middle TN. The Garden Staff(Dot) & I will be keeping busy between now & then. Still working on new sculpture projects on the rainy days. Attached is a pic of one of my cast cement Elephant Ear "sculptures". These are made from Portland cement using an actual Elephant Ear ( Colocasia species) leaf as a mold. Have a great Spring...and Thanks for all of your efforts to keep CCS'ers posting. Must be similar to herding cats...

P.S. the leaf is over 3 ft long..

Maureen Conti (Gould) class of '75.
