The Village of Cambridge, New York is celebrating its 150th
anniversary.
At the same time, the volunteer fire department is also celebrating
its 150 years. The Village of Cambridge Sesquicentennial Commission
has been formed by Mayor Carman Bogle, and a number of events have
been planned.
On April 16th, the event will kick off in Memorial Park. Thirty-six
star American flags will be raised at library, fire department and
village offices. These have been generously donated by...
American Legion Captain Maxson Post #634. Commemorative coins are
also being produced by the Historical Society. A season long
scavenger hunt will also begin on the said date.
In May, a student art contest for the design of street banners will
be held in partnership with Hubbard Hall. The annual flower planting
will also commence. In June, the sesquicentennial painting by artist
Dan Turcotte will be put on display and raffled by the Fire
Department. The Lions Club car show will also take place in June.
✔On
July 16th, a historical-themed float parade, sponsored by the
Fire Department, will take place, followed by a muster competition.

on Main Street, followed by an evening street dance with fireworks.

Not
again. Not that I would not like to but the weekend of the reunion
is always the same weekend between inservice and the beginning of
the new school year here in Tennessee. Maybe when I retire again I
will have the time and desire to attend.
John McCarty / class of 1966

1.
Nice to read the names of two of my late brother Bob's CCS '58) best
friends, Mick and Paul.
2. And nice to see the photo of Ray and Mary and classmates ('63)
... but the Mets ? (Go Brnx Bmbers!)
3. All getting old now ... reminds of when I was a kid and got ...
arthritis, bursitis, and colitis, and they gave me inoculations;
then I got phlebitis, tendinitis, and tinnitus, and next they gave
me hypodermics. That was tough, never thought I'd get through that
...spelling bee.
Love to get up there but unfortunately not this year. Rebecca and I
are building a coastal cottage type home here in Fernandina Beach, a
first for us, our own HGTV experience, as it were.
But we trust
the interest in these annual class reunions continues as I'll
consider next year, 2017. That's when the Class of 1967 graduated
... half century ago. Significance to me? Ha! When I was a senior,
after three years of Latin with Mr. O'Connor, I took First Year
French with Mrs. Thiessen and a bunch of freshmen, including some
pretty hot freshmen babes. Oo la la. Love to see them again.

Hi
Pauline, my wife Marcy and I plan on making it up this year for my
50th. We will stay at my sister Jeans in Clifton Park, after the
reunion our plans are to go to Boston to see my sister Pat, and then
all of us are going to the Cape for a few days. Any chance you can
get the Boondocker to come our way? I know the class of 66 would
love to see her.
(Note from Pauline: The “Boondocker” is my sister Susan,
Class of 1966 who writes an awesome blog about her travels in the
West in her 17ft Casita trailer with her 2 canine traveling
companions. Her blog

Check it out!!!)

Reunion yes I am coming to it this year
Carol Bayer,
Class of 1963
In a month I leave for Ontario, CA on my beloved Big Red to travel
back across this great country & then home. Oh, only a month. I
will be traveling to CA with a veteran friend of mine, my adopted
brother in friendship. America has not lost its greatness. Yes we
have issues, but then there have always been issues. Different
times, different issues, but America is great & stands tall &
proud. I am humbled & proud to travel w/people who see me as a
person & welcome me w/some of the biggest crushing hugs 1 can get.
I was proud to have served my country but I have been reminded how
proud I am of the US of A. The people you meet, the people you see,
the people who work all year round for that 1 to 2 hour meal &
program presented to us, all the people on the overpasses and last
but not least all the children who want to get your autograph & talk
to you, some just to touch you because to them you are special.
These are the honest feelings from very true American people.
This is what I
do in May each year

McKean Class of 1966
While planning our 50th Class of '66
Reunion, a few memories surfaced that we are wondering about. Our
classmate, Merrilyne Hendrickson, painted a large CCS sports mural
that hung on the cafeteria stage wall for many years. Does anyone
know where the mural is? Also, when the "new gym" was opened in the
mid 60's, there were 2 statues sitting on the open space over the
entrance to the gym. One was a totem pole and the other was a little
Indian. While they may have been constructed of a paper product,
over the years, the statues may have deteroriated.
If anyone has
any info about the above, please contact Karen Dusha McKean on the
alumni website, Smoke Signals, at
kjm96@aol.com
or 518 423 5999. Thank You!!
